Your Tutors

You will be supported in your learning by qualified and very experienced teachers who know how to make learning fun and non-threatening. Jim and Julian have over forty years of experience in supporting learners to use computers. Vicki brings her expertise as a professional photographer to explore digital photography. Vivian administers our south west office and helps on our courses.

	Julian is a qualified teacher and followed an art education including fine art and ceramics. He has taught as a volunteer in the Sudan and subsequently in secondary schools until becoming an advisory teacher for computers and art, in 1988. His previous post before becoming an independent consultant was as a Senior Regional Adviser for the southwest with the primary national strategy where he also led on the use of modern technologies in primary schools. Outside work Julian is involved with amateur dramatics and plays the piano.
	Vicki is a professional photographer and busy mother of two small girls. She studied photography at university and before taking up photography professionally worked as a recreational advisor for people with disabilities in Oxfordshire and Sydney, Australia. As a photographer, she specialises in shooting colourful, macro images of natural subjects.
	Jim is an ex English teacher who now works as an independent educational consultant, based in the south west. His work focuses mainly on the use of computer technology to enhance teaching and learning. He also lectures part time at the University of Exeter. Outside work – he is busy as a Daddy, enjoys playing the guitar and loves getting his hands dirty in the garden. He has also travelled extensively in Africa, Asia and Europe.
		Vivian works in the office for Learn SW and undertakes our administration. She has worked as a copy editor in a public relations company and is a registered nurse. She designs and makes theatrical costumes for local amateur groups and also enjoys gardening, and walking her dog on the cliffs.
